About Us

Over 60 years of designing and manufacturing aircraft and aerospace hardware.

Established in 1963 by “Cy” and Miki Young, The Young Engineers, Inc. (TYE) specializes in fasteners for honeycomb panels and composite materials, typically utilized in aircraft/rotorcraft interiors, along with space applications.

The company’s extensive product range consists of various industry-standard and proprietary potted-in, mechanically attached, floating nut and floor panel fasteners, along with rivet inserts, tensile fasteners and installation tooling. We continuously work with OEM’s around the world on the development and refinement of aircraft fasteners. In recent decades, TYE has introduced several new product lines, including ultralight metallic inserts, high-strength plastic inserts, magnetic fasteners, vibration-dampening fasteners, as well as a highly customizable line of cabin interior latches.

The Company also believes in giving back to the aerospace fastener community. Members of management have been technical advisors and/or sat on the board of various national and international fastener organizations for decades. TYE has worked with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other government agencies, along with the private sector, on the writing of standards, papers, and procedures designed to ensure that aerospace fasteners are manufactured, inspected, and distributed to exacting standards.

Although TYE uses a vast network of aerospace distributors, we are also a stocking manufacturer, typically maintaining inventory on several thousand line items. All of our products are manufactured within the United States of America to the most stringent national and international standards.

We are also Nadcap certified for Chemical Processes and are one of only two companies in the world to receive Nadcap Fastener Manufacturer accreditation.

In addition to our company’s continuous improvement activities over our 60 years of design and manufacture of Aerospace Fasteners, our staff has served as advisors and/or board members on various technical boards, including such well-respected organizations as the Aerospace Fastener Standards Advisory Committee (AFSAC), the Industrial Fasteners Institute (IFI), Nadcap, and the National Aerospace Standards Committee (NASC) to the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). We have also worked closely with the FAA and other industry groups in the development of TSO C148 for fasteners. We continuously work with various OEMs on the development and refinement of aircraft fasteners and have introduced numerous novel fasteners to the industry in recent years, including, but not limited to the following:

  • A full line of fastener products manufactured from high-strength composites (thermoplastics)

  • Fasteners for honeycomb panels as thin as 0.125” (3.2mm)

  • Floating nut fasteners with dual, independent floating nuts

  • The Loret Isolator Insert™: a range of patented fasteners that incorporate an elastomeric isolation device into a panel fastener

  • The Loret Latches™: a range of patented, highly customizable, and aesthetically unique high-end latches
